B Auto Parts was established in 1953 as a small corner
lot scrap yard in the shadows of several steel mills
and the St. Louis skyline. After a few years, founder
Steve Barzoff moved the business south to its current
location at 500 Madison Road. B Auto Parts mainly operated
as a scrap, recycling and towing operation until Steve's
son, Charlie, took the helm in 1976. The "scrap
yard" then became a true salvage yard as newer
vehicles were purchased and parts were sold to local
repair and body shops. As the business grew, many changes
were made to better serve their customers.
A local delivery service was introduced in 1979. Back
then, Charlie would deliver the parts himself. Over
time, the service has grown into a fleet of trucks that
deliver to local businesses within a 75-mile radius
in Illinois and Missouri.
In 1992, many changes occurred. The first of which
was the creation of a separate truck department following the need for specialized
knowledge of light truck, SUV and van parts. With this
development, B Auto Parts was better equipped to serve our
customers because each salesperson was trained to deal
with specific types of automobiles.
The second change was the addition of foreign manufacturers to our parts
inventory. Previously, B Auto Parts only specialized in domestic makes. However, growing demand made it
an easy decision to diversify our inventory to include popular European and Asian brands.
In 1996, B Auto Parts once again expanded and modernized.
Construction on a new building began. The new facility would house
both the Car and Truck offices, as well as six dismantling
bays and offer 35,000 square feet of warehouse space.
This enabled the business to run a more efficient office
and dismantling program.
Also in that same year, Charlie's son, David, entered into the family business and brought enthusiasm and interest in technologies to help B Auto Parts continue to streamline and advance our service procedures.
In 2003, a new 80,000 square foot building was constructed
for the expanding Truck Department offices, machine
shop, delivery truck parking, rear axle re-manufacturing,
six additional dismantling bays, a complete body shop
for custom work and warehouse space for parts storage.
With the addition of this building, B Auto Parts has
over 250,000 square feet of warehouse storage.
In fall of 2006, B Auto Parts was awarded CAR and
Gold Seal certification, which recognizes quality business
and environmental practices for the direct benefit of
our customers.
By the winter of 2007, B Auto Parts has transitioned
to a bar-coded disassembly and cataloging process to
offer real-time, online searching capabilities. And to better service remote-location customers across the nation, two full-time employees became dedicated online customer service representatives who also maintain rotating inventory on eBay. Additionally,
they were able to open the highly anticipated wheel
reconditioning & refinishing shop.
